The food that we eat literally provides the fuel to every cell in our body. By eating the freshest, best quality food that we can afford, we provide our body with the energy and nutrients to do what it already knows how to do.

Any symptoms of illness or disease that we experience are messages from our body that something has gone awry: likely too much of one thing, not enough of another. By listening to these messages and making changes in our diet or lifestyle we can improve our wellbeing and return to health. Yes sometimes we need to take medications or have surgery, and these options can be lifesaving. However, by choosing medicines first we are ignoring what our body needs and are beginning the path of disease care, rather than health care.

With this in mind, I have studied and practiced many functional – meaning getting to the root of the problem – healthcare practices. From massage therapy to acupuncture, from herbal medicine and nutrition to doula support.

Because there are so many conflicting recommendations available regarding nutrition, I wanted to learn how to research and distill the science into effective as well as personalized nutrition therapy. I earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Bastyr University, the ‘Hogwarts’ of natural, evidenced-based health care.

We may not be able to change our genetics but we can change what we eat, how much we move, and how we manage stress.  I can help you figure out what changes to make, and how to stick with them.
